Shipowners who need to know when their vessels must comply with IMO’s D-2 discharge standard can now use an online calculator developed by UK consultant Cleanship Solutions.
Updates to the compliance timetable from last month’s meeting of IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 71), along with the complexity of USCG compliance requirements, means that “owners and operators are faced with a myriad of dates and timescales,” said the company’s managing director Chris McMenemy in a statement yesterday (3 August).
He believes that the free calculator provides “a global tool for vessel owners and operators to simplify the compliance date complexity.”
Users provide some vessel details and their IMO and USCG compliance dates are automatically calculated and displayed on screen, alongside details about their ships’ IOPPC survey and drydocking schedules. They can also download their compliance dates in a pdf-format report.
A sample report that Mr McMenemy provided to BWTT includes eight pages of information, in addition to a table listing each ship’s compliance dates for IMO’s D-1 and D-2 standards, along with its compliance date for USCG’s Final Rule. Its supporting information includes an overview of IMO, USCG and EPA requirements, along with information about compliance technologies and options.
